I’m riding in this year's United Energy Around the Bay to help Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision fund vital research and provide support for patients living with Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes and their families.
Every 3 days, an Australian is diagnosed with a Bone Marrow Failure Syndrome. Distressingly, most of them are children and young adults, and 50% will not survive. Thousands more are living with ongoing complex health issues
This cause is very close to mine and my families heart. At the age of only 11 years old my son Henry’s close friend Will was diagnosed with AA and was confronted with the fight of his life. Fighting to survive AA but also the complications of the treatment and suffering two significant strokes. He is an incredibly tough kid with a smile that melts your heart but the journey ahead is not straight forward and requires a lot of additional support from his beloved family but also the medical professionals necessary to make each day easier.
