My daughter Chantelle was first diagnosed in August 2025 with Aplastic Anaemia. The same week Chantelle was diagnosed she was offered her dream job with Virgin Australia as cabin crew. This dream was put on hold.
Chantelle received extensive treatment in hospital and was in full remission by January 2026. We were so excited and she was ready to start her journey again with Virgin.
This dream faded quickly after she was taken off some of her medication, and within 2 months had relapsed. 2 weeks ago we found out she needs a Bond Marrow transplant.
I promised Chantelle last year that if she ever needed a transplant I would shave my head and raise money for bone marrow failure research, so I have teamed up with Maddie Riewoldt's Vision as my chose charity to help raise money to find a cure to this very disease.

My vision is a brighter future for patients living with Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes.
I am supporting Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision to fund vital research and provide support for patients living with Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes and their families. Approximately 160 Australians are diagnosed with Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes each year.
Distressingly, most of them are children and young adults, and 50% will not survive. Thousands more are living with ongoing complex health issues. By supporting my fundraiser, you're helping power the incredible research that will unlock better treatments and cures for people living with Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes and ensure they can access the support they need.

Tuesday 16th Jun Achieving one goal was amazing, achieving my 2nd and 3rd was beyond my expectations, but to achieve my 4th goal has blown me away.

I made 2 promises to Chantelle. First one was to shave my head if she ever needed a bone transplant and my promise will be fulfilled tomorrow at 11am. The second promise was to donate the money we were going to spend on the tickets to the MRV Gala Ball that we could not attend. As a parent, you would do anything for your kids, and if I could trade places with Chantelle, I would do it in a heartbeat. Chantelle's courage, strength and incredible sense of humour is beyond amazing.
